BIO
Miles got his first drum kit at the age of three, to stop him endlessly messing with the settings of his father’s drum kit. But it never stopped him from experimenting, testing, changing and adapting both his instruments and technique to keep reaching for a better, more exciting sound.
Miles has been formally tutored in music and trained in jazz; an outstanding music scholarship student who achieved perfect scores in Year 12 solo instrumentation on drums and percussion, and in music technology. He later studied at the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music, but performing live has been his forte since his early teens, from concert hall recitals to pub gigs with explosive teen grunge in The Milton Experience.
Leaving university, Miles' musical reach became more diverse, from playing percussion in The Jay Hoad Band at WOMADelaide, to recording drums and percussion with Ollie English, Neon Tetra, Lumens and Tom West though to touring nationally with such bands as Heaps Good Friends, Wing Defence, Aleksiah, Flamingo, Lostwoods and touring internationally with multiple American tours for artist MANE
He has simultaneously built his skills as a songwriter, engineer, producer and manager at the helm of his own ensembles – national touring bands King Of Spain and Abraska who have performed at such festivals as Woodford Folk Festival, Peak Snow Festival, National Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, producing and recording Albums for such Australian bands as My Cherie, Dark Daze, Tonix, and running and managing wedding and corporate band Yass.
All this is just the beginning. Miles' career in music will stretch on. He continues to push musical boundaries, keeps embracing myriad projects, and his future in both performance and recording will forge a path worth paying close attention to.
